Just to add to my previous reply the matchbox holder shows extensive wear, the runes and script were originally in relief, now where the thumb would hold it prior to striking the match the area is worn down to the surface.
But as it is a fake item, the previous owner must have actually used it anyway and for a long period, what can I say?.

Enclosed these two photos of a badge that has similar styles to the SS matches, the badge of course represents the SS Viking Div I would imagine.

I do not know whether or not that last badge/Tinnie is a fantasy item or real, but as it reads 'Denn wir fahren gegen Engeland,' the viking ship might just be a means of transportation for the blokes to get there, instead of the badge belonging to the Wiking Div

FWIW, here is one of my matchbox holders allegedly dug up about 60 miles from Moscow. As far as authenticity goes who can say? The IR21 did have their training Battalion stationed in Erlangen so possibly it's a canteen bought souvenir. An interesting coloration to the rear I think, indicating it might have been a pretty gold color originally?

Sometimes one gets that "belly feeling" that is hard to explain but understood by many! But it takes time to get that...right...!
