Err.. well, no, please re-read my post:

I was referring to the SA Sports/Defense Badge, which was - of course - not allowed to be worn post-45 and remained banned under the 1957 law. The "moral obligation" was included in Hitler's decree of 19 January 1939 that elevated the SA-Sportabzeichen to the SA-Wehrabzeichen:

"Jeder deutsche Mann, der das 17. Lebensjahr vollendet hat und den Vorbedingungen zum Ehrendienst mit der Waffe entspricht, hat die sittliche Pflicht, zur Vorbereitung für den Wehrdienst das SA-Wehrabzeichen zu erwerben."

    ...meaning:

"Every German man who has completed the 17th year of his life and who meets the preconditions for the honorable service under arms has the moral obligation to gain the SA-Wehrabzeichen as a preparation for military service."

    Guten Nacht ! Steve.

Last year during a costume party I saw a guy who wore one of these reproductions to the bar afterward. Ironically nobody cared haha!

The term "M32" was never used at the time, as a small point of information.Click image for larger version.

My British colleague is correct that the Bw requires a sports badge as a mark of general fitness. However, as my Bavarian friend notes, such badges are surely not awarded by the SA. The Bw draws a sharp distinction with such things. Of course, there were at the time other entities without a political mission that awarded such sings of physical fitness, too.

    cheers tom.
    I like it too.
it's made of black wool and has all the bells and whistles.
    Just need the jack boots.
I have a p38 to go with it, but I dont think they wore side arms.
Would love to wear it to a party, but there are still people who look down on the uniform.
So I will be wearing it to war birds over wanaka and the blenhiem air show.
they do mock battles from ww1 and ww2.
The best part is they use blanks and not sound effects. so you really get a feel for what a small battle would've sounded like.
Tanks and dog fights above while you push forward under fire. great fun.
