Question Need help how to sew SS Bevo eagle correctly

    Hi all,
I would like to reattach an SS Bevo eagle on my Waffen-SS 1942 dated tunic, but I would
need some more experienced help on this subject.
I would like to know/see how to fold and cut an Bevo eagle correctly before sewing it to the tunic.
I want to do "historical correct" luckily I've got a skilled grandma with an old hand feed machine,
so sewing it self is not the big problem.
Detailed pictures of your wartime sewn eagles would be a pleasure!
    Thank you for your help!
    Best regards,
    Kevin

Some eagles on tunics seem to be simply cut out with some left over fabric between the eagles edges
and the top fabric looks fold into, would this be correct???
This is my eagle, and the described way I also would fold and cut it.

Would I be correct in saying that you want to cut out this untouched patch?

    Thank you, Glen.

If the tunic and eagle are both original DON'T do it, leave them as they are.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

    Thank you, Glen.

For best results put the patch in an envelope and send it to my address

In seriousness though, please do not do anything to it. I'm assuming it is original as it is out of my field, but it would be a real shame IMO.

I would have bought a tunic- removed eagle instead or a already cut out one and use that one instead. To destroy a mint eagle would not be so wise to do. Just my opinion though. It has survived 70 years in mint condition and it would be a shame if it were "destroyed" now. But you can of course do as you wish.

The tunic is near mint and untouched, just denazificated that's why I've got me this mint eagle.
The tunic is well worth this restoration to complete it, but I wish to do it correctly and of course with caution.
    Best regards, Kevin

Yes, buy a "used one" instead. I am restoring a FSP tunic and found used worn out tunic removed sleeve eagle to put back on mine. I recommend the same.
Also new looking eagle will stick out like a sore thumb on a used tunic.

Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to get a tunic removed one in good matching condition.
I will show you the tunic when I have it here and find the time to take some shots
    Best, Kevin
