Need Help with SS armband!!

My grandma has her father's old armband from WW2. It has a red background and white circle with a black swstika in the middle and a black border on the top and bottom. On the back this is a stamp of the eagle with its head to the left standing on the wreath with the swistika inside it. There is also a SS below it. What strikes us as odd is that this armband is not made of wool or cotton, but seems to be made out of flag material. He was arrested after the war and his orginal armband may have been destroyed and this could be an old reproduction. We really don't know anything about it except that it's old and belonged to my Great Grandpa.

Thank you. My family suspected that it was a fake. A lot of the Great Grandpa's stuff was destroyed when he went to jail after the war. Some books, the armband, and a few other things were saved.
