Such things are seldom seen or offered for sale. Paul Sack and Bill Shea tell me, and they must know, that these early things are not as desired by collectors, who want the epoch 1936-1938 caps, with the tall crown and the marks.
The fact is that the SS was a much smaller organization, in its transition from insignificance to its central, aggressive role in the regime, as these caps were created and worn.
This reality makes them especially appealing to me, at least. I have never collected war time, or late war things, by dint of my taste.
I did not collect the wartime caps, because they were usually so devastated, or simply had been obliterated.

and how can this inquiry be complete without those phallic objects which excite such mirth and lust among our members: the splints, or as some low minded call them---the "prongs." !!!
What insubordinate storm trooper "crimped" these sharp things through the paste board in the midst of the last days of Weimar or the first weeks of the III. Reich...?
