No, its a commercially produced "droop bill" style shell.

Something similar of note. The phrase "droop bill" is hardly felicitous. In real life, the item looks as if someone bent the front piece. A very handsome helmet all the same.

I may as well post here now that I have an SS item worth posting (in my opinion). It's hard to afford these things when you're unpaid so don't judge me! This is an SS M40 helmet, dug up at Kharkov along with the soldier, his Das Reich dog tag and Totenkopf ring (they had to be handed in with the remains, though). It's hopefully the first on a road to more like it!
