    Hi,
Thanks for reply but i have had it at several top dealers. Some have emailed me from Germany and they have said no way is it a sword hanger. The nearest they came to what it could be is a drum hanging chain.Mystery remains.

Hi Tony, welcome to the forum!

How about a Spanierschloß. Used on the SS Officers cloak or Umhang?

    Cheers, Ade.

Good Old Charlie Snyder has an identical one for sale for "Price On Request"....He is calling it an SS Sword hanger. Here is his description:

"This is an original SS officer sword hanger chain.
This very scarce item, and hard to find in any condition. This one shows signs of frequent use, however, it remains in very good overall condition.
It is plated steel with a hinged hanger swivel. The back is shown here.
It is RZM SS 1053/39 maker marked. It measures 12 inches long and 1 inches wide overall.
It is in very good to near excellent condition, with a slight bend at the clip, as shown."

Some help needed as to what this is?

Im am at odds with the RZM 1053/39 PD Luneschloss . This is an SS contract number for SS daggers. ....to which their code begins with a number 7....as is the junk piece at the top marked with an Ernst Pack and Sohn contract number. Uniform accessories would be marked beginning with RZM 5...or metalwork suppliers RZM 2.

The RZM purposely set apart all articles of clothing,,,leather...belt buckles...edged weapons etc......and kept control numbers of each type of article. I can not see this chain falling within the Edged weapon manufacture code of M7. Below is a list of RZM 7 producers

    A list of RZM makers

RZM 1 Insignia & badge makers
RZM 2 Metal work suppliers / sub contractors ..........which possibly this chain will fall under
    RZM 3 Party emblem makers
    RZM 4 Buckle makers
RZM 5 Uniform accessories......................................w hich possibly this chain will fall under
    RZM 6 Aluminum Products
    RZM 7 Edged Weapon makers
    RZM 7h Edge weapon subcontractors
    RZM 8 Metal accessories
    RZM 9 Tinnies
    RZM 10 Musical instruments
RZM 11 NSDAP long service medals
RZM 12 NSADP miniature long service medals.

A category of each item of control. The chain listed above does not fall into the RZM criteria of Edged weapon production...and would be reserved with the rest of the accoutrements ( hanging devices ) for swords and daggers. Regards Larry
