Spanish Volunteer Shield ...any idea on date , real or if a copy ??
Picked this up for a couple of pounds last week...its been previously stuck in an Album, not sure of date ,period or authenticity...the person I bought it off thought Vietnam period .... on the off chance it may be WW2 thought I would ask first !!
..it doesn't glow under UV light , appears contempory made rather than issued..

I would say it is real.frontmade.
Typical Spanish manufacture.
These arm shields were authorised for all veterans coming from Russia to be pinned on Spanish army uniforms. There was no denazification in Spain after the war, so all awards were recognazed as accptable for foreign service and used (there are pictures during the fifities of US officers puzzled at Muņoz Grandes' knight cross). They have been embroidered at least till the late seventies, when the last veterans retired.
This one looks from earlier manufacture, though.
