SS-Allgemeine Tab question

Hello

What is the secret on the SS-Allg tabs without the typical siver or silver/black piping
On which tunics where this tabs worn or are this tabs just unfinished ?

I would say this one is unfinished, waiting to be made into either an officer's or EM's tab. Sometimes early SS tabs were worn on the brownshirt without piping too, but this is not one of them (its later)...

From middle 1937 enlisted as well as officer ranks wore such tabs, and they were piped by whomever once they were sewn to a tunic or such. Such is plainly stated in the RZM circulars.
This unit is the famous Vienna Allgem. Sta. 'Holzweber," named in 1938 for one of the assassins of Dolfuss in the Elementarerreignis Putsch in July 1934 whose origins are well described in this book.

Here is what a tab looks like with piping of either kind, and the piping is alu and black, not silver and black.
Silver wire was used in 1932-1934 in some cases, but the nomenclature speaks of alu. wire.

Thanks. I am not sure whether I would use this word, but these are authentic and illustrative. I am told by my senior mentor, whose name you all know, that I must buy the Ulrich of England book on this regalia.
The illustrations I have seen are revealing and interesting.
