    Hello everyone
This is the first item I've posted here on the forum.
Please could I have your thoughts on this SS tab that I have?
I believe it to be original but would appreciate your opinions and any information you can offer about its manufacture.

    Thank you.

    John

Hello and welcome to the forum!
The tab you have posted is an original Bevo runic tab.

I agree with Ralph, it's a good one with late-war backing.
Another thing to look for in originals of BeVo tabs is how the black material thins on the back of the tab.
    And welcome to the Forum.

Thanks guys, would this tab be classified as a "Dachau type"?

Hello, great condition tab, not to get off topic but I have always wondered why the term BEVO is used if it is a product of Dachau manufacturing, as BEVO ( Bandfabrik Ewald Vorsteher ) was located in Wuppertal-Barmen some four hundred miles away ? Why not just label this as Waffen S.S. or some other term related to the group? I have several Mutzenabzeichen by different makers, BEVO, Gunther and Windrath and S.S.S. etc; should I just lump them into one category as BEVO instead of individual makers ? Just my two cents.. G

Hello and thanks for the comment.
Not sure if this helps but unless I'm mistaken, Dachau was a kind of epicenter for SS items and although many products were manufactured there exclusively, products were also sent there from other factories to be stored, and then distributed at a later date.
I myself was curious if this tab was the "Dachau" style (i.e. made there specifically on site) or wether it was manufactured elsewhere (i.e. BeVo ) then shipped there, later being discovered at Dachau upon liberation?

Would be great to hear others opinions on this.

John1945, my comment wasn't aimed at you or your statements, it was just a general question. Like the S.S. ET Vs. the Quist, both are helmets but it is the maker that differentiates the two. Welcome to the Forum by the way !

While I am not a cloth specialist, maybe the material, and runes, are manufactured by Bevo Wuppertal, and the tabs are actually made at Dachau.
Or, maybe just the name Bevo is over used when referring to cloth items.
    Just postulating,
Someone else here will know the answer to this question.

I know, I was just trying to help with your question as it's something I would like to know also. Hopefully someone can shine some light on this for us. Thank you for the welcome.

Ralph, let's hope so, I believe it is a interpretation to describe a style of woven materials that is used too liberally in collectors circles, akin to running around and claiming to have a "Hitler" helmet or a Hitler buckle just because there is a swaz or even worse that every item is a Waffen S.S. just because of runes.
