    Would this have been on a high ranking officers vehicle, and if so i would think its quite a find, i havent seen many around

    i believe it's called a"standard" flag topper, or "fuhrer's standard", placed on the right front fender of the mercedes benz driven by top leaders. Please correct me if im wrong.
