ID:	910290I think it is a normal army contract Tellermuetze with an added officer's band.

    It also has a German Theater Fundus mark, which seems real to me.

    This is the real thing. (see my enclosure...)

    Looking to the first item, you can see, more or less, that the velvet band has been added. My friend in Salzburg has made it clear to me the subtle aspects of this feature of the cap, since
    he has taken the Hempe book and actually made caps from it.

    He is a fine member of our guild.

    The cap, minus the velvet band, is of the period.

    And, there are numerous examples of real army caps made by real hat makers and or wives and or girlfriends into real Waffen SS or otherwise grey caps in the epoch.

    Whether this is one, I have no idea.

    Real grey SS officer's caps are very rare.
