Can you please tell me if this collar tab is original or fake and why? Underneath the cloth is buckram.

Just compare it to some photos of originals and you should pick out some major things, there's heaps of photos of originals around.

Comparing to known original is your best bet to understand why this tab is no good, which is just my opinion. Me stating facts can't show you what you need to see. That being said, when attempting to authenticate these tabs, it is best to look at ALL the material, the size, shape, positioning etc. etc. of the runes. How the tab itself was constructed. The backing material as well as the piping. Knowing what an original example details is your best defense agianst reproduction however.

Look at the runes, yours are too thin for a start, then look at the piping and the material quality

This is what I see, the piping is too loose, the runes are thin and I would say the material is too fuzzy. I would also say it's not boxy enough, it's a little to pointed. I appreciate everyones help here. This is new and frustrating!
