SS collar tabs
can anyone shed a light on what these are they are described as follows.
'They are basically one-third smaller than a standard set. They are extremely well made and sport a nice set of machine embroidered runes. They have the buckram material with a coloured shellac to hold the wool and the backing in place.'

Re: SS collar tabs
If they are smaller than standard tabs, I guess it is possible that these were made for a child. I have seen other miniature insignia which were claimed to be for that purpose and supposedly original to the period. I have also seen children's helmets for playing war.

Re: SS collar tabs
Agreed, anything is possible, however, I have a child's helmet, and the decals, although half the size of originals, are perfect in every detail, these tabs look a little offset, but as I said, anythings possible

Re: SS collar tabs
I have just seen these tonight on a website. I believe they were being sold as childrens tabs. I think the runes on the set I viewed were much closer to the real thing.
