Re: SS Dress tuxedo tunic
What an exceptional piece! It is nice to see that it appears to be well preserved. Do you know where the Soviet forces captured this?

Re: SS Dress tuxedo tunic
Both from the bunker, there was not quite a good light, but the first one definitely has a fire damage ( just a part of the collar, became brownish)

Re: SS Dress tuxedo tunic
WOW, the Russians certainly had their pick of the crop with these tunics and caps, just imagine if Ike and Churchill had said No to Stalin and the Americans and Brits had gone in first, there would be some very rare pieces around to view and not stored in the vaults of Russian museums

Re: SS Dress tuxedo tunic
the home front probably would not have tolerated the hundreds of thousands of casualties that would have been the result of taking Berlin,,,i too would have let the Soviet Union be bled dry taking that political capitol, even with all the goodies and treasures there,it would not have been worth one soldiers life...my opinion

Re: SS Dress tuxedo tunic
Thanks for posting the interesting image of Schaub's evening dress. There are two other examples of his tunics tucked away in there. The LAH title has been added, (incorrectly), as Schaub wore the plain aluminium cufftitle of a senior member of Himmler's Staff. The other tunics belonging to him have the Stosstrupp cufftitle. Several tuxedos were seen in the museum during the late sixties, early seventies and many of them of them were stripped at that point.
Again, thanks for the post.
