SS Flag

Article about: Milan, You have a nice original flag. It is not unusual for white to have spots of glow when they were cleaned or washed. I have many items, directly from US veterans, that were washed and h

    Hello Friends

I have this flag 2 years, I have it from very reputable collector , but..

Is it few days what I bought Black-Light and made tests with my SS items. All was OK, only this flag has any parts which are more positive than negative.

    Is it normal?

    Please help me.

PS: I had big problem do good photos at night, but I think that its visible.

PS2: I have second flag (Kriegs-Flag) and its 100% BL negative (all parts).

    Milan,

I am no expert but I have heard that cleaning with modern cleaning agents can cause things like this?

For me though I would have thought the whole white area would be either posative or negative, in particular the stitching. Just my thoughts.

I would wait for more informed opinions.

    Regards

    Jock

Hi Milan, the blacklight test is not conclusive. I am slightly concerned that some areas show positive, but I would be more concerned if the all the areas of the white glowed. It could well have been washed at some point in time.

I am not certain about this flag. I have tried to do some research on the maker but to no avail. But the town of Plauen was heavily bombed in WW2.

    Cheers, Ade.

Judging from the way the wording looks, the cotton base material and
the bunting rope stitching, it looks like the same manufacturing techniques
as the repro "Old Guard" and "Reichkriegsfahne" I just got last month !

    But I'm no expert ! !

Let's see the whole flag, the other rope end and the Size markings..............
