SS Hats - A study of period photos

I've been thinking recently that it would be of benefit to construct a thread showing SS soft headgear via the medium of period photos.

The aim is to educate novice collectors in the basics of hat and insignia designs as well as being a resource for all levels of knowledge.

There really is no better educational tool than to study period photos. Also, they often proove that the rule book was thrown out of the window.

Let's start. All the images I post here have been posted before on the web so I don't think I'm falling foul of any copyright issues. If I am, please let me know.

Feel free to add images that you feel are of relevance but please choose the nice clear shots that show some detail.
