SS items of note.SS items of note.SS items of note. The dilemma of being homeless and ownership of authentic SS items is a perfectly normal one, I think.
    Good luck with your negotiations.

If the thing had the cuff title, I would have taken it, but I rather think that after a certain date, such cuff titles were phased out for op sec. reasons.

A thing beauty might I say, thank you for sharing. I can't understand why these blouses and visors drive me crazy the way they do!

Thanks for showing F-B. the first thing that popped out at me was the SS panzer beret! An item I can only dream of right now. I am the owner of a lowly Heer panzer beret. Lol, but seriously, I would love to have one sitting next to the Heer beret.....Mr. C does!....lucky man! Here's a shot of mine, minus inner helmet .

The shoulder boards on the tunic don't make sense to me. Isn't grey piping for Himmler's personal staff?

Um, thanks, I know how the SS was organized. That's why I'm confused. As these charts clearly show, Himmler's personal staff and the RuSHA were different offices. To my knowledge, the only Waffen-SS personnel attached to the RuSHA were Fachführer, who wore red-and-white piping.

Thanks. I also looked at the other forum that has a nice discussion of this Fachfuehrer in the SS ca 1941 or 1942, without, however, primary sources.
I think a distinction is made between a regular officer with a typical full time SS rank in even the R u S H A and these wartime Fachfuehrer, as I understand it, who were specialists for a given task or role and mission.
In the structure of military occupations and specialties of today's Bw and the Austrian BH, there is an Offizier des militaerfachlichen Dienstes, who are set apart from regular line officers, and whose military horizon is specialized and limited. I must look in Fricks for the Wehrmacht, but it had such perspns as its Beamten as well as Sonderfuehrer. I am not a specialist in the Waffen SS in all its least details, but this uniform is not that of a Waffen SS officer, per se.
The R u S H A in its prewar incarnation had a number of full time regular Planstellen.
If you have further primary sources, I would be grateful to see them or have citations where I can look myself. I am, however, not interested in citations from Bender or Schiffer books, unless our own Wim Saris wrote them.

PS Do let me say this: while some of you are aware of how the SS was organized in detail, most are surely not. Hence, the work here, when it is done well entails, a fairly high didactic effort which is ill served by the assumption by others that all is self evident, which it surely is not.

SS items of note.I rely on my understanding of the evolution of the R u S H A in the era 1933 until 194X on this very fine work, which, to be sure, does not treat uniforms, per se.
