many thanks for sharing these rare images, who knows what all has survived and what did not.
The KZ Columbiahaus was first a Military Prison and then a Gestabo prison.
The KZ came into place 27.December 1934 till 5.November 1936.
For the new airport Tempelhof the Columbia-Haus was torn off in 1938.
Attached one layout from the Military prison back to 1905. Many prisoners still where brought over to the Prinz Albrecht Strasse 8 to hear them out.
Thank you Robert, an interesting addition to the thread.

Thanks for this further data. The military prison was adjacent to the Kasernen of the old Berlin regiments (depicted on your graphic), both of which were of the corps of guards. Tempelhof was famous as the leading drill ground in the capital. It was also noteworthy for the 1 May 1933 Tag der deutschen Arbeit, a Speer, Goebbels spectacle.
By "hear them out" you mean interrogate, of course.
It is sad that the airport there is now to be closed.

Yes, from may 1935 a prisoner transport shuttle ran three times a day between Columbia and Prinz Albrecht Strasse 8, at 7.30 am, 1 pm and 5 pm.

Thanks, this is why I asked for the additional aid.
Hi D, for some unknown reason I missed the image you posted of the SS men in Columbia Haus. Fantastic photo!
The frequency of the timetable is rather chilling.
Cheers, Ade.
To get back to the question of the elimination of the black and aluminum piping, for officers, Mollo did not have the order and estimated the time for change to aluminum piping.
Here is a photo, signed in 1935, showing the piping still in use. However, it is unknown the date the photo was taken. I have been unable to identify the unit collar insignia or translate the signatire.
