Are these real or fake? Thanks for the help!!!
Welcome to the forum!
But I am sorry to say all of these are fake/fantasy items.
The design of the badge and or the fixing pins were never used during 1933-1945.
Cheers, Ade.
are you sure that the "Adolf Hitler 1933" one is fake? (sorry to bring back an old thread) but I just bought one from a reputed website !!
Hi Feelix, yes, it is bad.
If the site is reputable, they should accept a return for a refund.
Cheers, Ade.
Hi Adrian,
I have been offered a lapel pin similar to the ones you have
passed judgement on. Is it also a fake and are there any genuine ones
around do you think?
Thanks, Mart
Any time you see a coffin shaped pin attachment the item is fake.
Hi,
Is it the coffin piece I've marked that that holds the pin assembly to
the back of the badge? If I was to encounter a genuine one what sort
of pin attachment would tell me it was the real thing.
Thanks, Mart.
Any hobby that has fake items requires you to study originals and fakes. You can save yourself from some costly mistakes. Your lucky you have forums to learn from and thousands of pictures.
The blunt answer would be 'anything but coffin-shaped'. Most commonly you'll see round or oval-shaped pins, but there are other shapes that can be observed on genuine badges. Spend some time browsing photos of the examples posted on this forum, and you'll see plenty of different ones.
Kirby is very much correct. The easiest way to identify genuine items is to become familiar with them, and the next best way to do that, after handling genuine examples in person, is to look at pictures of them. Do that, and you'll soon be able to sort the wheat from the chaff, so to speak.
