I believe this to be genuine. Recently I have seen some rather poor quality fakes
for sale, so be careful if you start seeing these !

This one has nice enamel, is well made and marked RZM L/17.

"FM" stands for: Fordernde Mitglieder - a patron member of the SS
paying regular contributions to SS funds.

Sorry to say, but this one is bad. These were never RZM marked.

There was only one maker of SS-FM pins and that was Deschler of Munich. They were maker marked and also stampted with a code letter and serial number.

They came in either stick pin or broach pin format.

    Cheers, Ade.

Thanks, Ade, for your expertise and the sad news !

    Well, good thing I didn't lay out $400. ! ! ( That's what some websites
I've been on are asking for these ! )

So you can see here how good some of these pieces look, and can fool us !
Someone sure has the "aging" technique down..........

As a retired dealer friend of mine said once regarding another item:

    "If it's a fake, It's a damn good one !"

I think you will find the aging is actually real. I recall these being for sale back in the 1970's. This is the thing with some of the older fakes, they are now showing real age to them.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Got that right Ade !

I've been collecting this stuff a long time. I've got way too many books,
but it still pays to study and read up on everything you can within this hobby.

I would never have guessed only one maker made these, so, how many of us
"knowledgable collectors" get fooled like this on a regular basis with countless
    other items ??

If I can at least put my two cents in from time to time, show some items, give an opinion
now and then, I'll feel like I'm making some kind of a contribution.

It's the guys like you who have the experience and focus to learn all you can,
and then share it with the rest of us what makes this hobby rewarding.

I'm glad I found this site, and I thank you so much for your valuable,
freely given knowledge, and giving me a chance to show some of
the things I've collected to everyone..........

    Cheers !

Adrian, I just joined today and have no idea as to how to use the site yet, but thought I would give it a try. I have been offered a SS Sympathizer's Badge of Honor, but I am having trouble finding much information on it. In J. R. Cone's booklet "One People One Reich", he states that this badge was "to be found as a stickpin only", but the one I was offered just had the normal spring type pin assembly. The badge I was offered is RZM marked, M1/133 and has 4214 for a owners number. You said that there were no RZM marks on the similar SS Auxilliary Members Badge, but does this also apply to the SS Sympathizer's Badge of Honor? If so, I obviously have a "don't buy" item being offered. Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Terry
At this point, I am not even sure that I will be able come back and find your reply after I sign off. This is all new to me!

Hi Terry, and welcome to the forum!

This type of badge was also never RZM marked.

    Cheers, Ade.

Thanks Adrian, that is good enough for me! Did the original ones only come in stickpin form like J.R. Cone said? The owner like myself is just a collector and I want to be able to tell him everything I can find out about it. He will be dissapointed, but grateful for the information. Thanks again, Terry

Hi Terry, yes originals of these were in stick pin form. The correct title for these is the SSFM Ehrennadel.

    Cheers, Ade.
