cool i was never offended in any way. my opinion is sealed either way I believe it is real that is all that matters to me the evidence against fake I havent seen. I have the internet and books also. I started with the rarest thing the cuff, now if i could have posted pics in hi res, you would agree if a fake verry verry verry good the stiching matches exact to one that is offered on the net, almost loop for loop. the example shown for sale is torn so there is some distortion in the looping,

now i have never seen a tailors tag repoed so nice if so codos to that person ive got a job for you,.

ive seen lots of east german material and lots and lots and lots of german war time material this has the feel and look to me.
now there is a few things ive not seen im my years and that is how to fake a few key things like aging of certian things the ability to hide things under a black light neon is neon my friends if it glows it glows.

ok here is a history lesson not to be off subject but there was a recient book about the japanese envoys. and the peace treaty.
now in this persons book they had made the mistake of saying the envoys where escorted in by p38s and there are no pictures of that sorry , ok my part my dad was on Ieshima island when the envoys flew in, My dad took a lot of pictures in those pictures know what it shows b25s escorting the bettys in. After reading and then emailing this guy about his mistake he said I was wrong. Well I went out bought a scanner and emailed him back pictures of it. Know what his response was? I ask also because he never replyed again lol. so for those history buffs out there I know one thing that is wrong in a book because no one ever saw it (but me)
lol.

ps as a side note My dad Cut out a piece of the skin of that airplane and took it home I still have it, He said it was the greatest airplane ever made. it was the one that ended the war for him.

I am sure we would all be very interested in your father's service in the Pacific Theater in the second world war, including photos. There are appropriate places to place same on this and other sites with a very informed readership.

We here are focused on the regalia of the Schutzstaffeln der NSDAP, a conflicted and popular subject, obviously, prone to controversy and misunderstanding.

I would make a final point: the internet is not a fool proof way to learn about German textiles of the early and mid 20th century. These electronic pictures of ours are only part of the issue, and I might be forgiven for exaggeration in my lines above. But, once more, we are not making a judgment on your father's military service, but on the prima faciae evidence from electronic pictures of militaria in two dimensions.

PS Your point about there being many errors in our record of the past is one we all embrace, of course. The stalwarts in this site are working hard every day to deepen an understanding of the past and, perhaps, to correct mis perceptions or errors. Some of us even do it professionally, and are recognized as such.

Many of my colleagues here have world renowned collections, examples from which grace the illustrated works, and whose opinions are valued across the globe.

But you are right that there are always errors in books, to be sure.

Even the finest author is prone to such a thing, especially with history, with its endless details, which become more difficult as time goes by.

a few real grey SS caps...none my property. Caps with Panzer or other Waffenfarbe are especially rare and controversial, if actually real.... apologies to my Swedish friend, but his cap is so nice that it deserves maximum exposure.

modern taste seems to prefer the grey caps to the black, but I am not modern.

ok so no one yet has told me what makes my hat fake Ie improper rim improper piping, improper color, wrong band, etc little help here. and I also have handled a lot of material in my life starting at 6-7 yardsaling, gunshows, etc. so point out what i missed instead of oh the eagle is fake ok why is it fake? color, heavy tarnish, im in the dark here? you say the quality is off ok then what do you mean because it seems verry well made better then any repo i have seen the stiching etc. is top notch. I have had ww1 uniforms that i got at a garage sale they actually took out of the attic when i was there. was as fresh as new. if there is any one on the west coast i would have no problem showing them
