Hello Kevin I do believe this is intended to be a funeral sash. Seeing as how there are a wide variety of such sashes found for different organizations, military branches etc. I can t see why the SS wouldn't have similar sash tributes to the fallen? Is this a period example that I don't know. Hopefully someone can provide a answer for you. Here's another example for sale from a militaria dealer for comparison, again not to authenticate it but to show other examples are out there. Best regards.

Edit: I ve looked through some other items on the posted dealers site, they don't look good. But again the sash I reference is just an example for comparison.
Thank you so much for the information Brian.
much appreciated. K.
I agree that this is a funeral sash. I can not tell from your pictures if it is genuine or not.

Oh wow !!!! I never would have guessed it. Iv'e seen several funeral sashes, even for the SS, but never in black. Seemed just a bit too nice or good to be true.
Thanks again Bob, you are the man! K
Years ago, a friend of mine picked up a grouping of funeral sashes frpm a vet. Several were Allgemeine SS and were the same construction and included the unit number. All were from the funeral of the same man as there was also a red sash from the local NSDAP Kreisleiter.
