If you do a quick search for skull button, this is what you will find.

If you read through some of them, you may be able to find out if the markings are at least correct or not and go from there.

Your object is authentic. The issue is whether 63 is an RZM code, in which case, it is likely: M5/63, ergo:Hans Schulz (?!) of Oppach, or, if it is a VA SS
contract number, then that is known to the ghost of Oswald Pohl and no one else. But your piece is authentic.
Apparently the first of these side caps did or did not have a plain button, whereby if these buttons emerged ca. 1935 or so, then they might well
not have the M5 designation, and just the RZM contract. Or not. Simple, no?
The rest of the Montur looks thus.
