The link Paul gave you has examples of both fakes and originals. Just take a look at them, and you should be able to deduce whether or not your skull is original.

Agreed - definitely an original .
I like calling this one the " loose weave " , since this very type can also be found in a normal , thicker & tighter weave ( on the left in the picture ) .
The thin , loose weave one that started this thread is often encountered on Dachau found Fez' & on M43 caps , and is actually quite hard to find in this unused state ..
