another view.....do compare this image above with the picture of the Berlins aelteste Muetzenfabrik piece as regards proportions, size, arrangement of the crown, cap band, cap badges, Gehirnbremse, peak pp.

Cap for SS generals have been faked since Adam und Eva.

One just sold in Canada with a white pikee cap cover for a goodly chunk of dough.

We salute the new owner. We are glad someone still has any money.

final bit of evidence....und damit basta...the RZM tag belongs to the C Wagner cap at the bottom of this page. The top piece is an unmarked variant, but still an attractive one.

Once more, I am sorry to shatter your hopes. The same happened to me in about 1969 and became the cause of a long quest for the authentic pieces. But I had a fake cap of this kind that i have never seen again, and it was superior to the Berlins aelteste Muetzenfabrik caps.

Here is a picture of man who reputedly made them.... Dr. Peter Breuer. I am not sure in which of the Fakultaeten did he get his doctorate.

In southern Germany and Austria it was the custom to address nearly everyone with a white collar "Herr Doktor..."

It even happened to me in Kaiserslautern with my favorite shoe repair man.

Dr Breuer has a certain poetry to him, actually.

Wilma was the man's daughter, who took over the business, once he passed onto the great Zeugmeisterei in the heavens of Traditionsgau Muenchen-Oberbayern.

You can see in his face the shine of the torch light parades of his youth as well as the effects of too many Schweinhaxen on his cheeks.

In fact, Dr. Breuer could have been a figure in this film, which some of us here like very much. "Berlins aelteste Muetzenfabrik" was as phony as the denatured penicillin on the black market in the film.

Happy collecting and better luck next time...
