SS visor hat

Any ideas? This was given to me by a WW2 vet many yrs. ago.He had a couple of swords,daggers and such that he was saving for his boys. He knew of my interest in these types of things and surprised me.The writing inside is very lite. Berliner..something? It's in cursive gold.I can't make it out. Over all it's in real good shape.

I regret to say that your cap is a 1960s fake.

One of the signal flaws of these 1960s Berlins aelteste Muetzenfabrik make caps is the far less than 4.5 cm width of the velvet cap band.

There are many other horrendous flaws.

They are free to examine in detail.

I can only concur with the remarks of my colleague. These hats could be found at any gun show in the 1960's for $25.00. Compared to an original hat, these are not close in appearance.

I do not generally recommend rival sites, but the well visited one with the maroon background color has what would fill a telephone book of posts on this genre of fake cap.
