This man has authentic cap insignia at somewhat less than absurd prices, but I am not an agent of his.

The other issue which seems alright to me is the weight of the cloth, i.e. that is is cap cloth and not cloth as used in either Feldblusen or even overcoats.
The fakes are made of the latter and not the former.
And you want to be certain that the black cap band is integral, too.

Opinions vary with these things, of course, and a computer picture offers no definitive measure.

We have many, many images of such beat up, war time grey enlisted caps strewn around this site, and today is not the day for me to retrieve all the images.

I warrant you that such a thing superficially seems like a fake, but it is also not my role here to enumerate all the pluses versus all the minuses.

In thirteen thousand nine hundred and eighty eight posts since 2008, I have done so, and the record stands.

Images courtesy of Bill Shea, to whom I have paid far too much money over the years. These are not my caps. And I do not have buyer's remorse, either.

Here is Mr. Mint's compendium of earlier caps. The cap in post # 4 in his thread is now mine, actually.
The ones I have enclosed are in worse shape, but also typical for what exists and what is also authentic.
These caps are not as nice as black SS caps at all.
