Since Andreas has not gone to visit den grossen Koenig, I enclose these images. The devoted heirs of Frederick's Prussians leave potatoes on his grave.

For the benefit of those who wonder about the meaning of that:

Among the many things with which the name of Friedrich II is forever linked in the German mind, the potato figures quite prominently.* The great king had energetically promoted potato farming in Prussia, against considerable sceptisism, stubborn resistance, even, by the farming community who did not know what to make of this strange plant from the new world.

To this end, he released a series of fifteen so-called "Kartoffelbefehle" [potato orders], the first of which was dated 24th March 1756. They were certainly among the most beneficial decrees ever issued by German rulers, I would say. (Potatoes had already been cultivated in Bavaria for more than a 100 years before that; but what can you expect from Prussians. )

In his own words:

"Wo nur ein leerer Platz zu finden ist, soll die Kartoffel angebaut werden, da diese Frucht nicht allein sehr nützlich zu gebrauchen, sondern auch dergestalt ergiebig ist, daß die darauf verwendete Mühe sehr gut belohnt wird."

["Wherever there is an empty spot to be found, the potato is to be raised, for not only is this fruit very useful, but also yielding to such an extent that the effort spent for it is very well rewarded."]

*) Prompting immortal German comedian Heinz Erhardt to remark that the "Pomm Fritz" were named in his honor. (Sorry, can't really translate that one.)

Hi Chris, the tunic was made with an internal dagger or sword hanger clip. A slit hidden under the pocket flap allowed you to clip the leather sword hanger strap to it.

Only the man in center wearing tailored tunic, both other soldiers wear a Mannschafts M 37 tunic, which is originally have no any loops for a sabre/ dagger. Interesting to see a modified example

The belt over the shoulder can either pass through the Dolchschlitz in the pocket, or be so adjusted to go under the hem of the blouse or tunic.
Or the blouse can have a Dolchschlitz made be a skilled hand, though this is the exception.
