I once again have learned something new on this Forum. I had no idea that members of the S S T V were honor guards. A day without learning something new is a day wasted.
Actually, there is a fair amount of evidence of the SSTV use in a representational role. There are also images of them on parade in Munich at the time of Mussolini's visit in 1937, in an image used in the Hoffman books and then recycled by Mollo. In the Deutsche Wochenschau of January 1941, at which time Hitler spoke in the Buergerbraeu at the ceremony of the founding of the NSDAP, the honor guard is also for the successor organization of Oberbayern, or one of the TK Standarten of the rear area as described in Mollo. They have the TK on their collars, too.

One has to look at the pictures and pay attention to the time period. The Jaeger images in the Timepix are very interesting this way, as Hoffmann and Jaeger were close to the center in Munich.

Munich still my most beloved city. This is how the stones would still look like today. Anyhow much has survived at this place exept the Ehrentempel.

The Ehrentempel in wartime, before Munich was heavily bombed.

Maybe this is one of these SSVT 1 "D" men who stood guard over the Martyrs, here in his Ausgehanzug near the Odeonsplatz/Feldherrenhalle.

What became of him years later?

    What happened to his suit?

Do you who read this know?

Here some scenes of what followed....

The time pix sites says this picture was taken in 1945, but it is likely more 1948.

The Ehrentempel was demolished as part of denazification.

Instead of Nazi martyrs, a few years later young Germans worshiped this man... however, near Frankfurt a. M. and not along the Isar...
