    The seller insists on them beeing original. He claims that part of the officers wanted these with a gold overlay (like the ones he has for sale)and therefore they had top be cast and that some officers even wanted these in pure gold. Whats your honest opinion. To me it sounds very strange to have this kind of variety in insignas??

    I don't think that some of the period soldiers or officers noted to theyr straps such a carefully as we - collectors, even they never thought about the material used on the Ziphers on their shoulder straps.
    Secondly- 3rd Reich was not a rich country in the jewelry used by peoples.

    I have met a number of DF Officers at reunions in Austria and none of them ever mentioned wanting or having pure gold ciphers , a nice story i think

    I can not tell you if they are periode, but one thing I can tell you is that these are badly casted, thise faker gets no recomendation from me!! ;-)
