This looks eerily close to my first (and hopefully last) purchase of fake armbands:
Thoughts on my new KZ armbands
Wagriff has made some great points. There are a variety of different "artificial aging" techniques used to make items appear "used" or "worn." When you see how many of these supposedly original pieces are offered with a variety of coffee, grease, and dirt stains, as opposed to looking less "abused," you start to get a little jaded or cynical about the question of their authenticity... In the end, it simply comes down to how comfortable you'd be having a particular piece in your collection, based on what you (and other experienced and knowledgeable collectors) can tell about it.
Hopefully not out of context, but I'm willing to bet that the pros can actually "feel" a piece.
I hope to be close to this within this genre some day..
