The sweatshield appears to be flexible plastic and not rigid, which is not a good sign, I believe the manufacturer's logo to be one used by Michael Janke.

    Hi Bob,

    Sweatshield material is definitely rigid.

As far as i know Michael Janke makes reproductions. Good ones. He is to my knowledge not a faker, but some people sell his items as pre war.

The G.A Hoffman (Berlin) logo has been heavily copied but the one in this cap looks legit to me. The Hoffman firm also had a second Berlin location and hats produced there went under the name Berolina. There were different models of extramuetzen, this one is an Elite but there was Luxus, Beste Qualitat etc etc.

The sweatband looks to have been re-attached at some point, perhaps with glue around the front?
Apart from that though, I see very little to suggest that the hat is not authentic. It's obviously impossible to say for certain though.

As for the insignia, I might be wrong but I think the TK is probably a cast reproduction. The eagle looks better but I'm not totaly convinced.

    Ben hi,
Thank you for your input. With close examination I am almost certain the sweatband has never been removed. I like the natural wear under and over the left visor, especially from the thumb and fingers when handling it, seems he was left handed.
So far there have been very strong condemnations re the authenticity of this example which really is surprising, no if's but's or maybe's. You alone are the only one to suggest that at least with visor examples " that it's impossible to say for certain ".
Look forward to more knowledgable input please.

This hat is an excellent example of the fact that not everything can always be accurately judged from photographs alone. Since you have confirmed that the sweatshield is rigid, I must agree with Ben's observations.
