very interesting video,,thanks for sharing,,,Robert
in my opinion its a SD unit not Waffen SS ,but very interesting
The SS historians know this better than I, but I believe it is the surrender of the Main SD office in Milan by Walter Rauff to the Americans. The SD office had retreated to a local hotel and barricaded themselves in there, trying to get away from the mob of angry Italians. The US troops accepted their surrender.
Rauff headed the SD in Tunisia, and was therefore awarded the Afrika cuff-title:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
Good stuff

YouTube - WAFFEN SS SURRENDS IN ITALY************************************************** **************************** While you are there, be sure to watch the movie about Klingenberg. He was a very brave man! He ended up being a General, I believe. Look at his foto, and you will know.
Klingenberg had only made it to SS-Standartenführer when he was KIA in March 1945. But as you say, a brave and very comptetent officer.

I hate to disagree with you, but you are mistaken. Fritz Klingenberg was promoted to SS-Standartenführer on 21 December 1944 whilst he was commandant of SS-Junkerschule Bad Tölz. He was ordered to take command of 17. SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Division "Götz von Berlichingen" effective 12 January 1945 and actually took command nine days later. He was killed in that command as a SS-Standartenführer on 22 March 1945. He was not posthumously promoted to SS-Oberführer.
