This is a most interesting photo. I thought the aluminum cuff title for Reichsfuhrer-SS and the main offices was not introduced until January, 1935. The collar tabs for Himmler were intruduced in October, 1934. I guess the cuffband was in wear prior to the official introduction, at least by Himmler.

I would have to put this photo as pre October, 1934, also.

I am seeking Golden Party Badge # 77578, Luftwaffe blue summerweight flight pants, used Geschwader Immelmann officer's cuff title.

Dear Colleague, I do not know the date. These images are from the Bavarian State Library via Bildarchiv preussischer Kulturbesitz. Such interesting documents are why this site must endure as a rancor free zone.

I had thought there was a period in 1934 when he wore white collar patches?

Karl Wolff was made an SS-Standartenfuehrer in April, 1934 and promoted to SS-Oberfuehrer in July. So, it is obviously May/June of that year.
Himmler's collar patch changed to the oakleaves in August, 1934.
He did wear white or light gray patches in late '33, early '34.
Himmler can be seen wearing the aluminium cuff title as early as 1930/31.
There you go lovers of minutiae.

We do love minutiae, and such affection assures that, as collectors, we can recognize the real nature of the past versus the fate of most to suffocate in received wisdom and superstition.

A different sort of communal gathering, perhaps from that same summer?

Very well possible and definitely not much earlier or later:
The Army officers are already wearing breast eagles as introduced in the spring of 1934, but their Air Force colleagues still wear DLV insignia (note arm eagle & breast wings) as abolished in March 1935. Sepp Dietrich is wearing collar patches for an Obergruppenführer, a rank to which he was promoted as of 1 July 1934.

    HPL -

This seems right, thanks for the input.

Next to Dietrich is Witzelben, executed after the assassination plot.
