I am a novice when it comes to SS insignia but I am pretty sure the collar tab is for SS-Totenkopfstandarte 32. No idea about the shoulderboard, sorry.

Welcome to the forum! I hope I'm right and someone will be along to help you out soon. May I ask, if this a photo of someone related to you?

The shoulderboard is the gothic cypher "T" for Thuringen. These boards were introduced in 1937 when the 5 Wachverbaende were re-organised into three SS-TV regiments: Oberbayern, Thuringen and Brandenburg.
The collar patch indicates that the man is in the 32nd Hundertschaft, or company, of the regiment.
    Hope this helps,

The Arabic number on the collar patch indicates the Hundertschaft [= Company]. The Gothic "T" cypher on the shoulder board identifies the Totenkopfstandarte "Thüringen".

(Allow me to add that there was no 32nd Totenkopfstandarte anyway; the highest number assigned was 17.)

Our member d'Alquen will surely be able to elaborate on this; he is quite an expert on this subject.

EDIT: He beat me to the answer while I was still fiddling with mine.

Thanks for that Andreas, I am still learning.

It seems strange that they would make that their collar tab. I can see how it would get confusing. From what I have been learning about SS insignia, nothing is clear-cut anyway.

    Friese,
Are there any other shots that accompany this very interesting one?
