Would like opinions on my SS Götz von Berlichingen Tunic...
Hi all,
I received this tunic today from the nephew of a woman who was a teenager in Germany at the end of the war (she recently passed away). The story his Aunt told about the tunic is unique, but as we all know, stores are something we have to separate ourselves from when purchasing these things. Nonetheless, his Aunt told him this tunic was given to her (then a teenager) by a German soldier when the war ended because she didn't have a coat to keep warm. The typical story I get (as we all do) is that someone's father or grandfather "took it off a dead German", so this one caught my attention. Again, this is a nice, and plausible story but let's talk about the tunic now
I've taken quite a lot of high quality photos so nothing is left to assumptions. Many shots are detailed enough to show the stitching pattern of the various insignia. It does not appear there is any evidence of the collar tabs, cuff title or sleeve eagle having been removed or replaced, and a black light test over the entire tunic does not reveal any post-war thread or cloth.
I understand the shoulder boards and the "Götz von Berlichingen" cuff title do not go together, but is it at all possible that the boards may still be original to the tunic with this cuff title present? Perhaps this soldier was transferred just as the war concluded and before he could switch out his boards, or remove the cuff title? I'd really hate to remove and replace the boards if indeed they're original to the tunic. The wear and tarnish staining on the shoulder boards beneath the button (shown in one of the photos) at least lends credibility to the boards having been on the tunic for quite some time.
Let me know what you guys think. Click on any of the photos below to enlarge them quite a bit...
Thanks!

Re: Would like opinions on my SS Götz von Berlichingen Tunic...
The tunic is original M 42 with redone to pleated pockets. Insignia is ogiginal, but who knows if it's original to the tunic. I feel, it have a chance to be original to the tunic, due the wrong placement of the cufftitle ( a bit lower, that it must be) I think the collectors will attach it to the right place if someone will restore the tunic with insignia

Also the piping is a grass green, as I can see on the picture, and not a Gebirgsjager green

Thanks for the feedback Dimas. The color shown in the photos (at least on my monitor) is a bit bright when compared to the actual color, although they are still a grass green. Are they correct for this tunic, considering the cuff title is "Götz von Berlichingen"? I've been told the shoulder boards do not go with the cuff title, is that your opinion as well or could these shoulder boards be correct for this tunic?
