    Default Beaded M40

    G'day all, can anyone help me with this? i think it looks more like a post war lid but i don't know if they made beady's at that point in time or if Quist was still working?

    Hi Phil, it is fine. Beaded lids were not produced post war.

    What was the point of the bead? Excuse the question, but my knowledge of helmets is very limited.

    Hi Tom, it was done when a helmet batch was found to be balistically sub standard. The bead was pressed in place to show this. But they were plenty good enough for home front use.
