It looks like it had some nice green/yellow (light brown) camo. It's quite pitted, but there are some places where you can clearly see the original LW blue/grey paint underneath the camo. I can't seem to find any maker or lot nr stamps on the rim (too pitted).
There are traces of 2 decals, the party shield being the most obvious. The eagle looks like the early type. The helmet is named to "Hartle" (anyone knows where I can look this name up?). The liner is very worn. Inside the crown of the helmet shell, there seems to be a very faded oval stamp, but I can't seem to get it on photo. I'll have to mess around with the light to do that. I surely hope this helmet is ok, but if not, I dind't spend much money. Enough with the talking, here are some pictures.
Enoy, and if you have questions, remarks or you want more photo's, please feel free to ask.
I'm trying to identify the unit of this soldier "Hartl". Maybe someone can help me with the description of the stamp on the inside of the liner. I can't read all of it, so each questionmark stands for an unknown letter.
it reads, in a square:
?. H. Kd??
Schw??
and what I'm guessing:
?. H. Kdfo
Schwft
or
?. H. Kdtr.
Schwst
I've been looking some things up, and found that maybe the "Schw" stands for "schwere", as in heavy gunnery or something? 88mm ?
