I think it is original however, the exterior and interior appear to have been treated with oil of some kind, and the liner may have had some leather cleaner softener applied to it as well. hard to say for sure without better photos.

Hi
A good honest helmet to me, i have seen worst than that.
nice. Dave.
the helmet shell is ok, but the leather looks very tired and worn out. value 250 euros max.
a lttle hint for the lace take it out! if you cant change it , then soak it in some very very strong tea for 3h, then let it dry out , this will give it an old look. hope this helps. by
looks ok but as for value i would say around the £100 price range, rgds dave
Hi Folks,
My first post here since I just learned of this forum. Great layout, content, and a lot of familiar faces; feels like home already!...
My comments on this helmet are that it appears original. However, it seems like this helmet was ground recovered. The shell is pitted and the liner has been treated - which is very typical of relics found throughout Europe.
Nonetheless, from a historical perspective it is a very nice original helmet that was surely lost in action.
Cheers,
Asper
are there any maker marks?
I pretty much agree with all the positive comments.
A little tired looking, but it's still a good helmet !
Regards,
Steve.
