    At the peril of my string suspicion this is DDR I wanted to submit for input.
    aluminum shell, repainted black
    Comb seems correct and has a what I can only describe as a lather gasket between it and the helmet
    size 55-rather small ( I thought my head was small geeez)
    several names
    cork pads band from shell
    straps unmarked

    An original WWII Era M34-type Fireman's Helmet with aluminum comb...Nothing DDR about this one, friend...it's a good one.

    awesome, I read somewhere that they took the combs off for scrap purposes for the war effort is that correct?

    Looks good to me...I've never heard that story about the removal of the combs for scrap-drives...

    I cant remember where I heard it but since the shell is aluminum two I figured the whole thing would have went
