cheers for looking ,it is an odd one ,the liner apears stretched to fit the lid , mabe not original to the helmet ,but what liner is it ,very strange ,it all a very big learning curve, cheers ian
I've never seen a liner like that before. Its definately not right though. If your after an original ww2 helmet,i'd give this one a miss.
ive no intention of buying any german helmet from ebay , i want to see and hold any helmet i may buy , no im just interested in the liner ,its a new one on me ,and im sure lots of other people ,just trying to learn , i think some one here will know what liner it is , cheers ian
Well whatever it is, it is definitely not a German helmet liner. I noticed that the seller says they bought it in Greece and that its had a coat of paint. It does look very shiny, must be gloss. The liner could be anything, a home made job, an old motorcycle helmet liner. I think this helmet was found minus its original liner and whoever sold it in Greece made and fitted a make shift liner. It is not a military liner. And it looks almost brand new!
Hi Ian,
that liner is definately not issue, the 42 Patt had the original issue liner in it is all german helmets. the shell itself looks ok i bet under the paint it will be a good helmet for refurb.
dave.
Its not worth buying unless its peanuts, it needs a liner which aint cheap also under that paint it maybe bare metal , i personally would not touch it, rgds Dave
Also, those liner pins look like flat drive screws to me.You can see on the photos, the right hand and rear 'pins' have a recess for a flat head screwdriver!
ill say it again im not interested in buying it ,i just want to know about the liner
