Bullet or shrapnel battledamaged?

Hi all! i have this 2 helmets with battledamaged and would like to know, if anyone of you can tell me, if this kind of battledamaged come from bullets, or shrapnel?
I think the 3 holes in the first helmet would be made by a bullet (there are too close to be shrapnel) and the two ones of the top of the helmet by bullets also.

And in the second one, for me looks like shrapnel damaged, but i'm not sure at all, i hope that any of you can tell me something about it!

I would say all of the damage is concussion and shrapnel , however the liner is unusually fitted with the rear seam almost to the front, plus it looks in pretty good condition as opposed to the remainder of the helmet, any closer shots

yes this damage looks to me like shrapnel mostly...

Shrapnel. The peices that fly out of bombs are ugly and irregular. That more than likely was from a Pineapple grenade of US mfg owing to the overall size of the holes. They are segmented inside and out. I could easily see them flying about making holes like the ones in your helmet.

Im of the same opinion , i would go with shrapnel damage , cheers Raymond
