Burlap/hessian camo

Hey guys,
Not sure if I'm posting in the correct area, but I was after some information regarding the use of burlap or hessian as a form of camo during WW2 by the German soldier. Can anyone tell me if there was a particular campaign this camo was used for? Was it a common form of camouflage?
I've read that it was quite popular with coastal troops, but not sure how true this is.

Here is my attempt on my M35 repro. Made the chicken wire from scratch! I know its not perfect but it looks pretty cool on my book case

Here one found in Normandy in a farm.
Most collectors stay away from this type of camo.

That is one of my helmets.
The condition is really not good.
