Cam M40.....unusual

Has anyone seen a cam job like this before? 1944 Italian campaign.

These photos belong to a friend who is offerning me this helmet. These give a good idea of the paint and cam, the Decal looks as though it has been painted over.

Any thoights????

I am not worried about the helmet in general, liner,chinstrap etc perfect. I have bought from this fellow before and would trust him with my newborn child next to an open window beside my collection of ming vases, I just have never seen a cam job like this, and was wondering if it has been seen before, or just done by a bored soldier....

This almost looks like a kid drew all over it with a crayon!

I really don't think the camo is original. The yellow is way too vivid and I'm not sure what would compel a German soldier to do this anyway. haha

It does remind me of late 1944/1945 Panther tank camouflage, lots of curvy lines with circles, that look as you said like a kid painted it!!!

Would paint change its colour or "fade" over the years?
