If that sort of money separates the men from the boys ........ I'd rather be one of the boys!

Good ( really good ) relics can be had for less than $400 - yeah, dems for me ...all the way man!!

An XKE12 Jaguar would be nice.....(kinda pricey on Insurance and Gas, though...)

A cracking helmet, although at that price even i would walk away and head off to the vintage car dealership and buy a super MGA.

Another example of someone with too much money and too little sense. It could also be a shill bidding scam so don't read too much into the final price unless the new owner actually admits he spent that much.

I often wonder how this stuff is worth that much money? Sure it's desireable and a nice piece to have in the collection but seriously? Even at six or eight grand it would be hard to justify? It is just a helmet with a bit of paint and old chicken wire over it. Why do these two items put together command such an extortionate price?

$13000 (8103GBP according to UKforex exchange rates), on a WWII steel helmet or the deposit on that Eldiss Autoquest camper van that i want? Ermmmm, I know which way my money would be going.
Put it another way, if I was to spend that sort of money on a helmet and the wife found out, the camper van would be a tent and I would be living in it in the New Forest!

Way over the top price wise as far as I am concerned. I would want a guaranteed, written proof that it was Rommels and had been worn by him when he got his RK with the signed photos to prove it!! Even then I would still think twice about it at that sort of money.

As has been stated already......A fool and his money etc!

I would be suprised if it did sell at that price. Besides from the pictures it's not one I'd buy without a hands on.
