Is this camo original?

Article about: It seems you had a super deal at the flea market... This M17 is made by F.C. Bellinger, Fulda. It's a size 64, which is also marked in ink, together with the AK acceptance stamp... I agree w

    Default Is this camo original?

Here is my latest treasure and I do not think I did bad on it even if the shell has been repainted. I don't believe it has been but I have not seen WWI camo like this before. It seems that the German camo of that time usually has a black edging. Anyway I found it at the local flea market for $15 so whether original or not I got a good deal for an original helmet shell. The green paint and a darker paint are sandy and there are places that are not painted that are the original gray green. Like I said I don't think the paint is fake but if it is the original is I'm sure still under it. Any information you can give is appreciated. I have never even held an original WWI German helmet, I sure never expected to find one at the local flea market for a good price.
    thanks

It certainly is an unusual geometric pattern, I have one similar on a square dip!

What is a square dip? Any other thoughts on this helmet camo?

I like the look of the 'Geometric' cammo. It's very, very similar to the 'Lozenge' pattern used on German aircraft later in the Great War. Who's to say that it was not inspired by that!

Regardless, it looks contempary to me in it's style, and, more importantly it's ageing. I wish it was mine.....a cracking bargain!!!!
