Camo + whitewash camo helmet opinion
hello members,
i just pick up a lot of german ww2 items and this helmet was in it
it' a shell with a strange camo on it and a whitewash.
At first i thought it was some dirt but when i covered it with renwax ,it didn't disapear.
what do you think about this helmet ? any idea , information is welcome

Hi, well that is different I must say. I have not seen a "cammo" like that before, but it does appear to have some age to it! The wear looks pretty consistant and the colours are also similar to those on WW1 "turtle" cammo helmets. I would not like to say one way or the other if this is a genuine period cammo, but it stands a chance in my opinion. Leon.
As Leon said i've not seen a camo like this, i'd give this one a cautious OK!....

that helmet come from a lot of 3 items found in a house clearance
here are some pictures of the "grouping" don't know if the items are from the same man
but there is a name on the gasmask can, i'll try to find informations about it

I am not yet convinced. Can we see some close ups of the holes where the split pins would have been and the edges of the apron. The paint looks good at first glance, but the interior and the edges of the splint pin holes give me some pause. Jim G.
I have never seen any photo's showing German soldiers wearing a camo helmet like that.
Agree with Jim. There's more than 1 red flag here.

on the first pictures i use renwax to remove a little part of the rust to see the color of the helmet
it looks like luftwaffe color

Looks like this lid was camoed up with the split pins removed...
