Article about: I was bought this by a friend who got it from a charity shop. She was told it wasww2. I am intrigued to find out if it is genuine and what regiment it belonged too. I am particularly intrigu

    I was bought this by a friend who got it from a charity shop. She was told it wasww2. I am intrigued to find out if it is genuine and what regiment it belonged too. I am particularly intrigued at the circle on the front left of the helmet where there appears some form of badge or decal

    Seems to be a M34 "salt shaker". Possibly post war since I see no trace of decals. This fire brigade lid lost it's comb.

    It is a square dip variant helmet. They were used by Luftshutz (air def. units), Feuerwehr (firemen, with or without the comb) and police units such as the railroad protection police etc.

    As said, Third Reich era German Firemens helmet. The holes
    all around are for attaching the liner with rivets/pins........

    .......and holes at crown are used to mount a comb.
