That's what i was asking!
It's a real shame! Although I think sometimes people do this kind of thing in the thinking they are preserving what is left of it to some extent maybe. But it kills the history and value of it unfortunately. Cheers, Sean.

Yea, it's a tough call, to restore or not to restore. Probably depends of the condition. I mean, a good relic is best left in relic condition, but if the helmet has already been fubared,,maybe better to preserve what's left of it. There's a post now of an m18 that 'looked as if it had been used as a chicken feeder' and i think it that situation it's better to do a nice restore. But, I'm new to this whole game.
